Battlefield Next: Leaks and Showcase Details
Following the Battlefield Labs announcement in early February, the first Playtest was scheduled for March. As expected, the community quickly shared the latest content, disregarding the NDA. The latest insights are coming from the most recent Playtest.
The Playtest held on March 21, 2025, revealed a new game map and a range of new mechanics. One highlight is the Battery map, which fans might recognize from earlier concept art and short teasers released by EA and DICE.

BF Next: Insights from the Latest Leaks
Thanks to the community’s efforts, we already have some exciting information. Based on the latest Playtests, here’s what we know so far:
- Map: Battery is a small-to-medium-sized urban map set in the midst of a conflict. While we haven’t seen any destruction features, missing textures suggest the presence of destructible objects and walls.
- Movement: The Playtest showcased several movement improvements, including the ability to roll after falling, in addition to the standard slide.
- Gameplay: The fast-paced action continues, with new features such as the ability to drag downed teammates to safety for revival.
There are also small vehicles, alongside the usual tanks seen in the early March Playtest on the Abassid map. This larger urban setting calls to mind classic maps like Karkand and Grand Bazaar, with the added feature of freely inspecting your weapon.

Final Thoughts
EA and DICE are undoubtedly frustrated by the leaks, actively removing shared files whenever possible. But, as expected, it’s already too late—more and more leaks are being shared by the community, defying the NDA.
Despite this, the overall sentiment remains positive. Both participants and non-participants in the Playtests are excited about the return to classic urban maps and the promising new features showcased so far. With Battlefield Next set for release in 2026, possibly in Q1 of the fiscal year, fans have much to look forward to.
