God of War: 20th Anniversary free Dark Odyssey on Ragnarok

God of War is the renowned action game series from Santa Monica Studio, with its first chapter debuting on 22 March 2005 on the PS2. The game was as violent as it was fun, placing players in the shoes of the warrior Kratos as he battled the Greek pantheon, thrilling many with its engaging gameplay.

In 2018, a decision was made to reboot the series, transitioning from Greek mythology to Norse mythology. This new direction offered a less hack-and-slash, action-RPG experience, which received excellent reviews from fans. The sequel, God of War Ragnarök, was released in 2022 and launched on PC on 24 September 2024. God of War: How to Redeem the Special 20th Anniversary Avatar on PSN

On 22 March 2025, the day of God of War’s 20th Anniversary, the Santa Monica team will kick off the celebrations. They will offer additional content for God of War Ragnarök, the latest chapter in the series, including a special Avatar on PlayStation, redeemable with the following codes by region:

  • Americas: F27X-L946-8PTH
  • Europe and Australia: HMCJ-N3JM-4TT2
  • Japan: 6F3K-RR8X-2KEM
  • Korea: HRLN-L4AG-88GD
  • Asia: 8RC3-DEFT-NJPC

These codes grant access to a commemorative Avatar that no true fan of the series should miss. While we do not have confirmation on how long these codes will remain valid, we recommend redeeming yours as soon as possible.

God of War: Celebrations and Kratos’ Tribute Trailer

As mentioned, alongside the special commemorative PSN Avatar, the Santa Monica team is bringing exclusive DLC to God of War Ragnarök. This includes the Dark Odyssey Collection:

  • Dark Odyssey Armor & Appearance for Kratos
  • Dark Odyssey Companion Armor (Atreus & Freya)
  • Dark Odyssey Weapon Appearances & Attachments: Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear
  • Dark Odyssey Shield Appearances (x6) & Rönd

In celebration of this milestone, an exhibition was held at Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, California, which concluded on 23 March. The team also released commemorative merchandise, including vinyl records, T-shirts, and a charming Jörmungandr plush. A special Tribute Trailer was also launched to commemorate 20 years of Kratos’ saga.

The 20th Anniversary has certainly marked an important milestone for the series.
