Just a few weeks after the announcement of Japanese Drift Master’s launch, the Gaming Factory team unfortunately informs us that the highly anticipated racing sim has been delayed by about two months!

Japanese Drift Master (JDM) is a racing game currently in development by the Gaming Factory team. A Polish studio known for several other minor titles. With JDM, the team aims to create an ambitious game that combines the arcade-style experience of Japanese racing sims with an open-world environment.

This is all paired with a manga-inspired story and as many as 250 km of roads to explore. The game was originally announced in April 2023, drawing attention from many, particularly thanks to a Demo Trial at the end of January 2025. It also features licensed cars.

Japanese Drift Master: The Delay Announcement and New Release Date

Just a few days ahead of the Japanese Drift Master release date, the Gaming Factory team shares an important update. Delaying the launch from 26 March 2025, to 27 May. A delay of roughtly 2 months from the original date.

This news comes with a trailer and an explanation for the decision. The team confirms that this delay is meant to ensure the ideal experience upon launch.

Japanese Drift Master: Reasons Behind the Delay and Fans’ Reactions

As mentioned, the reasoning for the delay is clear. Focusing the two-month shift from the original release date on delivering the best possible experience for JDM at launch. A game with immense potential, featuring arcade-style drifting gameplay and set in an open world, all powered by Unreal Engine 5.

While the choice of UE5 enables a modern graphics engine, it also presents challenges in optimization. As we’ve clearly seen in recent years, and especially in 2024 and now in 2025. Consequently, the community has largely accepted the delay as a positive move. The team promises more updates over the next two months of waiting, with a potential console release of JDM also in the works.
