Silent Hill f appears to have initially been banned in a well-known country during the rating process for its new chapter. However, it seems that the game will eventually be released. Let’s explore which country this was and the reasons behind the initial ban!

Learn more about Silent Hill f from the information shared with the Silent Hill Transmission!

Silent Hill f initially banned in Australia

Silent Hill f marks the return of the beloved Konami series after a 15-year hiatus since the last main chapter and 10 years since the P.T. demo. Revived thanks to the SH2 Remake by Blooper, F is in development by NeoBards Entertainment, the same team behind the ports of the series and the criticized Resident Evil Re:Verse. Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f holds great promise for the team as a potential hit.

The game follows the story of Hinako Shimizu in the fictional city of Ebisugaoka. With contributions from the writer of the Higurashi When They Cry series, it is expected to launch in 2025 on PS5 and PC. Add Silent Hill f to your Wishlist and activate the Alert to not miss the price reveal!

Silent Hill f: The Initial News of the Ban in Australia

Following the latest showcase dedicated to Silent Hill f with the Transmission, just a few days ago, news surfaced. On 22 March 2025, several outlets, including GamesRadar, confirmed that the game had received an RC rating from the Australian Classification Board (ACB). Meaning “Refused Classification,” resulting in a ban.

However, it seems this was due to an automatic process, according to updated reports. Although the risk of a ban still looms due to the level of violence, the game was assigned a CERO Z rating in Japan, equivalent to the ESRB’s 18+.

Video games and Australia: What’s the cause of some games being banned?

Australian players are familiar with this situation. In December 2024, Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact was also banned. The main reason was “implied sexual violence” . Involving an adult exposing themselves to two minors, likely related to the gag scene with Hisoka during Greed Island.

However, it seems that it’s not just excessive violence and adult content that leads to bans. The presence and use of substances in games has also triggered bans over the years. Examples include Disco Elysium, Hotline Miami, and We Happy Few, which later passed reclassification. While permanent bans include Sludge Life, Hotline Miami 2, the Manhunt series, and many others.

In Conclusion

While Silent Hill f appears to be safe from a ban for now. But there is still a possibility it could face a ban in Australia. The game’s strong elements of gore and violence, along with other potentially problematic content, may be an issue for the ACB.

It would be difficult to censor the game without altering essential aspects of the story and its multiple components. What are your thoughts on the situation? Let us know in the comments!
