Wreckfest 2 is the follow-up to the hit racing and demolition game Wreckfest. It’s developed by Bugbear Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic.

On March 20, 2025, Wreckfest 2 officially launched into Early Access on Steam. Players now have the opportunity to dive into the game early and help shape its development. Wreckfest 2 is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. Here’s what you need to know about the Early Access phase.
What is Wreckfest 2?
Wreckfest 2 is a racing game that emphasizes vehicular combat. During races, you can slam into other drivers, potentially wrecking them entirely. If someone gets taken out, they’re out for good — so playing aggressively can definitely be a viable strategy. There’s also a dedicated Demolition Derby mode where the whole goal is simply to smash your opponents to pieces.
Wreckfest 2 Early Access Launch
Early Access for Wreckfest 2 kicked off on March 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM CET, exclusively on Steam. Console players will need to wait a bit longer — no release date has been announced for other platforms yet. The PC version is priced at €29.99, but there’s a 20% launch discount until April 3, 2025, bringing it down to €23.99. The developers plan to gradually increase the price as the game gets closer to full release, so now’s a good time to grab it at a lower price.

First Impressions & Community Feedback
The game has been well received so far. On Steam, over 650 reviews have been posted, with around 70% of them being positive. Players are especially praising the enhanced physics engine. Thanks to the new ROMU engine, damage and car deformation look and feel more realistic than ever. The driving mechanics are also more refined and true-to-life.

Of course, there’s some criticism too — mostly about the limited content. But the developers have made it clear: if you’re looking for a fuller experience, you’ll want to wait for the full release. As an Early Access title, Wreckfest 2 offers a solid foundation, and supporting it early helps shape what comes next. In May, the first content patch is set to introduce two new cars and two new tracks.
